Frequently Asked Questions

What is PPC?

PPC is an abbreviation for pay-per-click and is a form of internet advertising used to direct traffic to websites. As the name suggests, you only pay if someone actually clicks on your ad. Most notably in the world of PPC is Google’s AdWords, which allows businesses to create an account and manage campaigns. In today’s digital world, PPC is essential to any online marketing strategy. Although it is an up-front investment, it is one of the best online tools to help your business realize positive ROI in the long-run.

How long before I see results?

After the initial set-up of your AdWords account, ads will begin showing in Google almost immediately. In 2-3 weeks, we will have enough data to see what’s working (and what’s not), and begin optimizing your account. Of course, if you have a previously existing account, we can begin the optimization process right off the bat. The overarching goal of PPC is to reduce cost-per-click (CPC) while maximizing either impressions or conversions. Although you may see minor short-term changes, it will take a few months to completely optimize and see intended results. Because of this, we encourage clients to stay onboard for at least a year. This provides for continual optimization on our part and increased ROI on your part.

Why should I choose GetSimpleCo™ to manage my PPC?

Simple answer: we’re real people managing your account in real time – there’s no automation involved. We get to know your business and product/service up-front, and then work hard to promote it to people that will care. First, we find highly converting keywords, and then build dynamic ads for each of them. No robots, no short-cuts.

What Is SEO?

SEO stands for search engine optimization and it's the process of getting free, organic, editorial or natural search results on search engines. All major search engines contain primary search results where web pages and other content, maybe videos or local listings, are shown and ranked based on what the search engine considers most relevant to users.

Why are keywords so important? What do they do?

Keywords are how people find your site using a search engine. Think about when you’re searching something on Google (or Yahoo or Bing). You might not always know exactly what you’re looking for, but you do know a couple words that could get you there. Those words are, in SEO-speak, what we call keywords.

So what makes this so important for a business owner? Well, if you’ve got a website for your business, and you want people to find it using Google, you can target those keywords on your site.

Say you’re a pet care company that offers puppy training. If somebody in your town were to type in “puppy training,” there’s a good chance they’re a potential customer for you. So you want to do everything you can to make sure Google shows them your website in the search results for that term.

At GetSimpleCo, we help you make that as easy as possible. There are two main tactics for targeting keywords: pay-per-click (PPC) advertising and search engine optimization (SEO).

PPC advertising was formed around the Google AdWords tool, which displays text ads in the search results relevant to whatever the user typed in. So, with the example above, the user who searches for “puppy training” might see two or three ads at the top of the page served by companies who are running PPC campaigns around that keyword.

SEO is the process of optimizing your site to reflect the keywords you want to rank for. It involves editing a number of areas on your site to better target those keywords, as well as a number of other efforts to improve your overall site ranking in the search results. SEO is focused exclusively on the organic search results, whereas PPC targets the paid advertising space surrounding them.

We can help get your site in front of the people trying to find you. Depending on the package you purchase, we can target a range of 5-20 keywords.

How are keywords tracked?

We use a third party application tool that tracks keywords at a national, regional, and local level, giving you real data on how your business is ranking on un-personalized searches in Bing, Yahoo, and Google.

What is content syndication?

Essentially, it is the process of pushing your content out to different channels. This helps you increase brand exposure, and get more people to your site! We specifically perform paid syndication, where we create ad groups around a certain piece of content (say, a blog post) and push that out to multiple channels. So if you create a blog post on your site about training your puppy, we’ll create several ad campaigns around that one post so people can locate that piece of content, and ultimately, your business, more easily.

What is local citation syndication?

Let’s start first with what a citation is. A citation is any mention of your business out on the web with or without a link. This can be anything from your company name to the company phone number. A complete citation should be the company name, address, and phone number. These citations improve local search rankings. There are two types of syndications:

Structured Citations: These are found on business listing sites like Yelp or Yellow Pages

Unstructured Citations: These are found on blogs, newspaper websites, government sites, etc. These are extremely valuable to your local site rankings and are what GetSimpleCo specializes in.

With our local citation syndication, we spread your citation across the web in order to get a more effective following and improve your ranking in search engines.

What is Google My Business?

Google My Business is a new service offered by Google that gives your business a public identity on the Google search engine. Long story short: Google+ Pages and Google Places for Business merged together to create an integrated presence for your business. You can stay on top of reviews about your business, share updates directly to your customers, be listed on Google Maps and manage multiple locations.

What is Google Authorship?

It’s a way for Google to keep track of who is producing content. At GetSimpleCo, we will register you as an official “author.” That way any blog posts, videos, or infographics you post to the internet can be tracked back to you and your business. The more quality content you produce, the better your rankings get – and research shows the average user is 33% more likely to click on a result with an author’s picture displayed alongside it.

How can I access monthly reporting?

We create a custom Google Analytics dashboard for you during your time with us so that you are able to see the results of the work we do. During our initial meeting, we will explain the metrics to look for, and how to tell when they are being maximized.

What are Google Webmaster Tools?

Webmaster Tools is a resource intended specifically for the webmaster of your site. It allows web administrators to check the indexing status and optimize visibility of their websites. Some of the features include checking the statistics of how Googlebot (the little guy who indexes your site for search rankings) accesses your site and checking the crawl rate.

What is involved in the Simple Website Audit?

We comb through your site and in a custom report tell you where you are gaining the most sales, where your biggest losses are, and where you have opportunities to optimize. Pretty simple, right?

What is the Website Copy Review?

You would be amazed at how much information from your website plays a role into your search rankings. Beyond headings, website content is thoroughly searched and considered when your website is being ranked in search engines. With that said, you have to carefully look into what you are really saying with your content, and if it is hurting or helping your business grow.

The point of the website copy review is to determine what is resonating with your customers and getting you higher conversion rates. This all boils down to how your message is being received, and if so, by whom. We search through your content to see how the content is affecting your search rankings, and how we can optimize it for the better.
